Mopla Vidroh-1921 (PB)

इतिहास लेखन में तथ्यों को उनकी असली तसवीर के साथ प्रस्तुत करना ही इतिहास के साथ न्याय
होता हैै। स्वतंत्र भारत में भारत के विधाताओं ने आपसी सौहार्द की दुहाई देते हुऐ, भारत के इतिहास से
ऐसे प्रसंगों को निकाल दिया, जो रक्तरंजित थे या जिसमें अमानवीयता ने अपनी सारी हदें पार कर दी
थीं। ऐसे ही प्रसंगों में से एक प्रसंग मोपला विद्रोह भी था। इस विद्रोह को एक सामान्य भूस्वामी बनाम
ड्डषि-कर्मी के विवाद के रूप में कह कर उपेक्षित कर दिया गया जो कि इतिहास के साथ धोखा था।
मोपला विद्रोह मोपला उपद्रवियों द्वारा हिंदुओं के ऊपर किये गये अत्याचारों की दास्तान है।
वीभत्सता, संगठित हिंसा और नृशंसता को देखते हुऐ, विद्रोहियों के द्वारा किया गया यह हिंसक ड्डत्य
मालाबार के इतिहास में अभूतपर्व है।
लेखक स्वर्गीय सी. गोपालन नायर ने इस पुस्तक में मूलतः अखबारों में प्रकाशित खबरों तथा कुछ
सरकारी दस्तावेजों का हवाला दिया है, जो उन्हें उपलब्ध हो पाये। लेखक ने तथ्यों और साक्ष्यों को
सामने रख कर सत्य को उद्घाटित किया है, जो मोपला विद्रोह के यथार्थ को स्पष्ट कर देता है।

“It would be well if Mr. Gandhi could be taken into Malabar to see with his own eyes the ghastly horrors which have been created by the preaching of himself and his “loved brothers” Muhammad and Shaukat Ali…How does Mr. Gandhi like the Mopla spirit as shown by one of the prisoners in the Hospital, who was dying from the results of asphyxiation? He asked the surgeon, if he was going to die, and the Surgeon answered that he feared he would not recover. “Well, I’m glad I killed fourteen infidels,” said the Brave, God-fearing Mopla, whom Gandhi so much admires, who “are fighting for what they consider as Religion, and in a manner, they consider as religious.”
