Amazing Ayodhya : The Splendid Ancient City Of Lord Rama
About the Book: Amazing Ayodhya : The Splendid Ancient City of Lord Rama
How big was the ancient city of Ayodhya?
Why is this city so significant for Hindus?
Who established the city and what did it look like?
What did Lord Rama and Devi Sitas palace look like?
What sort of animals were found in this ancient land?
No one grows up in India untouched by the beautiful story of Lord Rama and Devi Sita. Every Dussehra we celebrate the victory of Rama over Ravana, the victory of good over evil. Every Deepavali, we commemorate the return of Rama and Sita to Ayodhya and hear the tale of how the entire city was lit up to receive their beloved king and queen. But is the magnificent capital of Ayodhya just limited to this? Ayodhya was a renowned pilgrimage destination since the dawn of mankind, and after the birth of Lord Rama, it became a place of supreme importance for Hindus. Amazing Ayodhya is an attempt in gaining knowledge about this ancient city—its architecture, its design, its buildings and all the splendid details during the era when Lord Rama walked this earth. This splendidly researched book, replete with shlokas from the Valmiki Ramayana, offers authentic information about the city which will not only help understand the life and times of ancient Hindus but also the revered figures of Rama and Sita. Replete with descriptions, author Neena Rai draws out comparisons of an earlier era with our current life and culture, thus connecting the past with the present. She further compares Ayodhya with the cultures of other ancient civilisations so that the reader feels ‘connected to the past and the content of the book appears ‘contemporary. A fascinating account of an ancient city with significant contemporary relevance, Amazing Ayodhya is a must-read for a better understanding of history, scriptures and Hindu civilisation.

Ayodhya : Past and Present
10.30 a.m., 9 November 2019: A five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court of India unanimously ruled that the land where the Babri Masjid once stood in Ayodhya belongs to the lord, Ram Lalla. The decision was expected to end the conflict between Hindus and Muslims in India, who have been asserting their religious rights over the 2.77 acres of disputed land for five centuries. But Ayodhya still remains a divided city.
Journalist Sutapa Mukerjee has frequented the town since 1998. After the apex court decree, she returned to the land now gifted to Lord Ram and reconnected with the locals. Her narrative takes off from the historic 2019 Supreme Court judgment, traces the milestones of the seventy-year-long legal battle for the disputed land and even goes back a few centuries to give cultural and civilizational context to the conflict in Ayodhya, before culminating in a ground-zero account of the Babri Masjid demolition.
Ayodhya: Past and Present gives voice-through innumerable personal interviews-to the people of the pilgrim town, both the movers and shakers of the Mandir-Masjid tussle as well as the commoners caught in the crossfire. A history of Ayodhya, the book brings alive the reality of this once-quaint town that is on its way to becoming a commercialized pilgrimage destination.

Ayodhya Ka Chashmadeed (PB)

Ayodhya Ka Sach
SKU: n/a -

SKU: n/a -

Rajya captures the ancient sacred city of Ayodhya at a critical juncture of transformation with the
construction of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The book explores the life and legends of Lord
Ram popular in India and across the globe, while recounting the 500-year-long struggle for the

Ayodhya Revisited
This work of monumental research is atreatise on Ayodhyã with utmostauthenticity and absolute accuracy. Basedon original sources and scientificinvestigation it propounds a new thesis, which demolishes many popularperceptions. It exonerates the intrepidwarrior Babur from the charge ofdemolishing a temple on the birth-site ofRãma and constructing the mosque whichhas been a source of contention anddissension for long. It further shows howinscriptions in the mosque were factitiousand Mir Baqi of inscriptions is a fictitiousperson different from Baqi Tashkindi/Shegawal of the Baburnama. The book produces incontrovertibleevidence which indubitably proves thatthere existed a Rãma temple on the Rãmajanmabhùmi.The exact birthplace ofRãma was earmarked by a rectangularBedi measuring 18 ft. 9 inches in lengthand 15ft. in width, and was located in theinner portion of the disputed shrine. Thedemolition of the temple and theconstruction of the mosque did not takeplace in 1528 A.D. but in c. 1660 A.D.when Fedai Khan was the Governor ofAurangzeb at Ayodhyã. It is a historicalfact that until the British takeover ofAwadh administration in 1858 both theHindus and Muslims used to perform pujaand offer Namaz respectively inside it.All Mughal Emperors from Babur toShah Jahan were magnanimous and liberalrulers and the Bairãgìs of Ayodhyã enjoyedpatronage of the first four Nawabs ofAwadh. However, during the long rule ofAurangzeb the country was engulfed in thefire of fanaticism. It has been shown in thisbook how an absolutely unfounded rumourin 1855 A.D. that the Hanumangarhitemple was constructed on the site of amosque created cleavage between the twocommunities, and the resultant festeringwounds have not healed despite bestefforts by saner elements of both thecommunities. The book exposes many eminenthistorians’ hypocrisy and their lack ofcertitude in writing history and it may besaid that their presentation of contrivedhistory on Ayodhya has caused irreparabledamage to the cause of harmonizingcommunal relations in the country. Incontrast, this text earnestly tries to takeaway the toxin from the polluted body ofIndian politics. For the first time a numberof unexplored documents have beenincorporated in this book as evidence, andit may be proclaimed with pride that thisbook contains much more information onAyodhya than available hitherto.Justice G.B. Patnaik, a former ChiefJustice of India, after going through themanuscript, has endorsed the author’sthesis in his Foreword. It is hoped that thebook will put a quietus to the long-standingdispute.

Ayodhya: 6 December 1992 (PB)
‘A sensational book’ India Today
A shocking exposé of the event that changed Indian politics forever
P.V. Narasimha Rao was the prime minister of India when, on 6 December 1992, thousands of kar sevaks stormed into the site of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya. The nation watched in horror as the centuries-old mosque was razed to the ground, in the presence of paramilitary forces and senior political leaders, marking a turning point in post-Independence Indian history.
Many hold Rao responsible for not preventing the demolition, while others accuse him of being a co-conspirator. In this tell-all account, Rao reveals what really transpired in the run-up to that fateful day. Drawing on the Supreme Court order, parliamentary proceedings, eyewitness reports and his own insights, he presents a comprehensive view of the machinations that led to the demolition of the Babri Masjid.
Nearly three decades after the event, Ayodhya: 6 December 1992 remains a valuable resource to understanding the political manoeuvres behind the Ram Mandir issue and the dangers of exploiting religious sentiments for narrow electoral gains.

AYODHYA: A Battleground
Ayodhya is an intellectual effort to measure the depth and arrive at the truth of the lingering issue of the Ayodhya temple.
Ayodhya means the invincible. We all know the meaning of ‘yuddh’ or war. ‘Yodhya’ means the one worthy of a ‘yuddh’ or war. One engages in a war with whom they feel they can conquer. So Ayodhya spells out as ‘that which cannot be conquered’. But the memory of the demolished domes stands erect in the memory of the nation setting aside the literal meaning of the name. The memory of the domes creates a perception of ‘the ruler’ versus ‘the ruled’ in our subconscious.
For the last hundred years, the country’s politics has been revolving around these domes. The narrative has been lingering on for generations. Innumerable arguments, extensive discussions, yet no conclusion. Everything revolved around these domes. Even now it’s all about the domes even when they don’t exist. There hasn’t been an intellectual effort herculean enough to measure its depth, sharpness and truth, which can reclaim the cardinal connection of the present and the future with the history of the land.

Ayodhya: Beyond Adduced Evidence
Ayodhya: Beyond Adduced Evidence is a sequel to the author’s earlier book Ayodhya Revisited. It highlights how the Rama Janma Bhumi at Ayodhya is an essential and integral part of Hinduism. On the basis of unimpeachable evidence it establishes the exact location of the Rama Janma Bhumi. It proves beyond any shade of doubt that a Rama temple built in the 12th century existed on the disputed site and that was demolished by Fedai Khan, the Governor of Aurangzeb in 1660 A.D.
Based on the law laid down in scriptures it demonstrates that the bhumi of the temple having a consecrated idol gets the status of a deity. From the in-depth analysis of scriptures and inscriptions it has been concluded that a temple converted into a mosque can be legitimately restored to its original character of a temple.
The question of the title of the disputed land has been discussed at length both in historical and legal perspectives and it has been found that the title vests in both the Rama Janma Bhumi and numerous deities who reside there forever. But it was unlawfully grabbed by the British authorities in 1858 and that wrong remains unrectified till today.
The historical fact that many Mughal monarchs, Awadh Nawabs and Muslim nobles liberally granted land at Ayodhya for the construction of temples and mutts to the Bairagi sadhus has been highlighted in the book.
So far the title of the mosque is concerned, it is found that almost all evidences claimed in favour of the mosque are fake and fabricated. Moreover, whatever the title it had, that extinguished in 1858 after Lord Canning confiscated the disputed land. Thereafter, the Muslims had the permissive possession of a part of the mosque for offering nemaz.
Besides, the gun of the claim of adverse possession is fired against a wrong target as it has been directed against the Hindus; whereas the ownership of the land lies with the Government.
The author has shown the striking similarities and stark contrasts in the situations of Somanatha and Ayodhya, and has deeply probed as to why Somanatha succeeded, whereas solution is still eluding Ayodhya. It has been proved that Rama’s worship has continued for more than 2000 years and his saga is India’s most pervasive and enduring instrument of acculturation. Besides, it has been shown in the book that Rama has been regarded as the embodiment of Dharma since Valmiki wrote the Ramayana.
The book is indispensable for any student, scholar and lawyer interested in knowing the history of and the title to the disputed land at Ayodhya.

Bombay after Ayodhya : A City in Flux
The demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on 6 December 1992 was followed by riots across India. Mumbai had always been susceptible to communal violence, but the violence in December 1992 and then again in January 1993 was unprecedented. Two months later, in March, serial blasts rocked the city, killing over 250 and injuring 700. Communal strife was followed by gang wars and natural calamities, all of which changed the city forever.
Bombay after Ayodhya chronicles how the past three decades have been a period of unprecedented flux in Mumbai. In the aftermath of the riots, a split in the Mumbai underworld led to new equations in politics, which changed the demography of the city and led to the rise of new townships. After a brief lull, blasts and terrorist attacks rocked it once more in 2002, a cycle of violence that culminated in the horrific 26/11 attacks in 2008.
Jitendra Dixit grew up in Mumbai and has reported from the city for much of the three decades he writes about in this book. This is a deeply felt biography of a city, which has transformed from a city of mills to one of malls, where the number of skyscrapers has multiplied along with their height, where local trains have become longer and yet remained overcrowded. It is the city of Bollywood, yet constraints of producing films in the city have led filmmakers to move out. Its iconic festivals, such as Ganesh Utsav and Govinda, once primarily celebrated by the poor and the middle class, have become commercialized.
Along with key events and people that have shaped the evolution of present-day Mumbai, Bombay after Ayodhya also documents the change in the city’s character, from its physical appearance and civic issues, to real estate and politics.

English Books, Suggested Books, Voice of India, (True narrative)Hindu Temples: What Happened to Them (Vol. 2)
The book restricts itself mainly to the study of Hindu temples destroyed and desecrated and converted into mosques and khanqahs without overlooking Muslim’s ideology of iconoclasm; here and there, it also mentions other theological props and concomitants of the iconoclastic ideology. In the book, Ayodhya retains its importance, but it does not occupy the center of discussion. In dealing with its subject, it exercises complete fidelity to truth; unlike secularist and Marxist writers, it does not believe in re-writing and fabricating history.

RAM KI AYODHYA
SKU: n/a -

RAMA AND AYODHYA
This work briefly examines the antiquity of the Rama Katha and spread of the Rama cult over the Indian subcontinent in the context of claims of Left academics on its late popularity. Its main focus is the conflict at Ayodhya over the Ramjanmabhumi temple allegedly destroyed by the Mughal Emperor, Babar, in 1528. It examines the accounts of foreign travellers in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and British administrator-scholars in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, which testify to Ayodhya?s continuing importance as a pilgrimage centre associated with Rama?s birthplace. The extended litigation over the Ramjanmabhumi/Babri Masjid in colonial times further attests to the persistence of the claims to the Janmabhumi. From the late 1980s, Left historians have been in the forefront of the campaign against the Rama temple. They have argued that Rama worship was an eighteenth-nineteenth century phenomenon and the present-day Ayodhya acquired its standing and identity only in the fifth century AD, during the rule of the imperial Guptas. According to Left academics, the identification of the Ramjanmabhumi in Ayodhya was ?a matter of faith, not of historical evidence?. They also rejected any possibility of the Babri Masjid being built on the site of the Janmabhumi temple. Excavations by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) proved the inaccuracy of these assertions. And finally, the judgement of the Allahabad High Court (Lucknow Bench) marked a decisive moment in the dispute over the Janmabhumi. The writings of Left academics, the findings of the ASI, the extended arguments in the Allahabad High Court and its eventual verdict form the subject of this study.
