Aurangzeb’s Iconoclasm: Illustrations from Primary Source
Based on Emperor Aurangzeb’s Court Bulletins (Akhbarat) from Rajasthan State Archives, Bikaner and credible Persian works, this book “Aurangzeb’s Iconoclasm” features paintings, court orders and other such material to bring out the nature of reign that Aurangzeb had unleashed. Many of these paintings, reproduced masterfully in miniature style from original documents kept in the state archives. They are now part of permanent exhibition at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum of Indian History in Pune, set up by the author, Francois Gautier.
Clearly answers the question on the destruction of the Kashi Vishwanath temple, on Aurangzeb’s orders, the site of the current Gyanvapi Masjid.

Ayodhya Ka Chashmadeed (PB)
अयोध्या का मतलब है, जिसे शत्रु जीत न सके। युद्ध का अर्थ हम सभी जानते हैं। योध्य का मतलब, जिससे युद्ध किया जा सके। मनुष्य उसी से युद्ध करता है, जिससे जीतने की संभावना रहती है। यानी अयोध्या के मायने हैं, जिसे जीता न जा सके। पर अयोध्या के इस मायने को बदल ये तीन गुंबद राष्ट्र की स्मृति में दर्ज हैं। ये गुंबद हमारे अवचेतन में शासक बनाम शासित का मनोभाव बनाते हैं। सौ वर्षों से देश की राजनीति इन्हीं गुंबदों के इर्द-गिर्द घूम रही है। आजाद भारत में अयोध्या को लेकर बेइंतहा बहसें हुईं। सालों-साल नैरेटिव चला। पर किसी ने उसे बूझने की कोशिश नहीं की। ये सबकुछ इन्हीं गुंबदों के इर्द-गिर्द घटता रहा। अब भी घट रहा है। अब हालाँकि गुंबद नहीं हैं, पर धुरी जस-की-तस है। इस धुरी की तीव्रता, गहराई और सच को पकड़ने का कोई बौद्धिक अनुष्ठान नहीं हुआ, जिसमें इतिहास के साथ-साथ वर्तमान और भविष्य को जोड़ने का माद्दा हो, ताकि इतिहास के तराजू पर आप सच-झूठ का निष्कर्ष निकाल सकें। उन तथ्यों से दो-दो हाथ करने के प्रामाणिक, ऐतिहासिक और वैधानिक आधार के भागी बनें।

The Indian War Of Independence 1857 (PB)
Veer Savarkar was the first man who called the mutiny of 1857 ‘A War of Independence’. Until his time, no Indian had dared to say so. The martyrs of 1857 are really fortunate that they got such a historian to tell their history who himself was both a historian and a creator of history. At times, we visualise Veer Savarkar coloured in the red colour of that revolution, as if he himself was present on the battlefield and participated in the heroic war. At other times, we see him patiently analyse the strengths and weaknesses of both sides—why the mutineers lost and why the British won. The way he analyses the politico-military aspects of the revolution shows his wisdom as a youth of 26 years.
The Indian War of Independence, 1857, is a step by step account of the uprising of Indian Hindus and Muslims against the ruthless British rulers. Tracing footsteps of the barefooted, undernourished and almost unarmed Indian masses challenging the British bullets by the sheer force of their will power, the author establishes beyond an iota of doubt that the uprising was a War of Independence and not a mere Sepoy Mutiny as dubbed by the British.

स्वतंत्र भारत के प्रथम गृहमंत्री और ‘लौह पुरुष’ की उपाधि प्राप्त सरदार पटेल कांग्रेस के एक प्रमुख सदस्य थे। पूर्ण स्वराज्य प्राप्त करने के उद्देश्य से स्वतंत्रता आदोलन में उन्होंने महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई । उनके संपूर्ण राजनीतिक जीवन में भारत की महानता और एकता ही उनका मार्गदर्शक सितारा रहा। सरदार पटेल दो समुदायों के बीच आंतरिक मतभेद उत्पन्न करके ‘बाँटो और राज करो’ की ब्रिटिश नीति के कट्टर आलोचक थे।
भारत की एकता को बनाए रखना उनकी सबसे बड़ी चिंता थी। लॉर्ड माउंटबेटन ने 3 जून, 1947 को अपनी योजना घोषित की। इसमें बँटवारे के सिद्धांत को स्वीकृति दी गई। इस योजना को कांग्रेस और मुसलिम लीग ने स्वीकार किया। सरदार पटेल ने कहा कि उन्होंने विभाजन के लिए सहमति इसलिए दी, क्योंकि वह विश्वसनीय रूप से समझते थे कि ‘(शेष) भारत को संयुक्त रखने के लिए इसे अब विभाजित कर दिया जाना चाहिए। ‘
सरदार पटेल के विस्तृत पत्राचार के आधार पर प्रस्तुत पुस्तक में भारत विभाजन किन परिस्थितियों में और किन-किन कारणों से हुआ, भारतीय नेताओं की मनःस्थिति तथा तत्कालीन समाज की मन :स्थिति का साक्ष्यों के प्रकाश में विस्तृत वर्णन किया गया है । भारत विभाजन के काले अध्याय का सप्रमाण इतिहास वर्णित करती एक महत्त्वपूर्ण पुस्तक।SKU: n/a
